School for Seniors draws record crowd

A record crowd of more than 80 people was on hand as 51ĀŅĀ× and the City of Neenah co-sponsored the fourth annual School for Seniors at Lakelandā€™s Fox Cities Center in Neenah.

The event allows local seniors free access to courses on topics of interest. They are taught simultaneously and offered three times.

This yearā€™s classes were presented by Lakeland faculty and area professionals:

  • Speak Up for Yourself: Communication Skills for Everyday Life ā€“ Charlie Krebs, associate professor of theatre and communication
  • Old, New, Borrowed, and Blue: ā€œPopā€ Music Through the Ages ā€“ Evan Chancellor, assistant professor of music and director of bands
  • Common Scams Targeting Seniors: How to Protect Yourself and Be a Smarter Consumer ā€“ Susan Bach, Better Business Bureau, NE Wisconsin regional director.

The event is coordinated by Joshua Kutney, dean of Lakelandā€™s School of Humanities and Fine Arts and a member of the Neenah Committee on Aging.
