LUJ faculty member authors third book
A new book by Patrick Parr, a faculty member for 51ĀŅĀ×-Japanās English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program, entitled āMalcolm Before Xā is now available.
Drawing upon interviews, correspondence and nearly 2,000 pages of never-before-used prison records, āMalcolm Before Xā is the definitive examination of the prison years of civil rights icon Malcolm X. It is Parrās third book.
āMalcolm Before Xā has been named a āKirkus Reviewsā Best Nonfiction Book of 2024 and a Spectator Best Book of the Year.
Parr will make several appearances in the U.S. to celebrate the publication, including Chicago at talking with author Jonathan Eig about the book as well as the formative years of Martin Luther King Jr.
On December 10, Parr will be in Montgomery, Ala., at NewSouth Books where he will show some rare photos. On December 12, he will sign books at the Harvard Bookstore and Brookline Booksmith.
